<br />
I hope you are having a wonderful week!! Yesterday the 100 day Project started. OK, I didn't Google it, I didn't sign up for it but that's me. I live by my own rules. I decided that I would finish 1 thing every day for 100 days and I'm not aiming for perfection, everything above 50% will count as a success.<br />
<br />
Currently, I'll be finishing PL pages - recent and even unfinished ones from past years. We will see .............<br />
<br />
Yesterday, I finished half of Week 12. Actually, since I took this photo and filed the project away, I finished the second page as well. 2/100 for me! Let me show you my PL page:<br />
<br />

My cats, daughter-in-law's birthday bash and what we did, saw and experienced. For the middle picture of my son's cat, I used a screenshot from Instagram. His account is private therefore I couldn't just copy but I still wanted to document what's happening in Wednesday's life. (Wednesday is their cat and my only "grandchild"). I LOVE having it as part of my spread.<br />
<br />
Currently week 12's first half is next to a Art Journal page. It was not supposed to be like that as I like having the whole week in one view but it looked so good that I decided to keep it as is.<br />

<br />
The flair and label is from Kelly Purkey's shop and the paper from Studio Calico's Citrus Twist. It's my ALL time favorite paper pack.<br />
<br />
I think Project Life is much easier if you stick to a recipe. I normally print my journaling (Word doc, office paper) but I do love to add handwritten notes here and there. I make my own tiny alphas in Silhouette as well as a week number. Normally I use a date label from one of Kelly Purkey's label stamps but if all else fails, I will use what I have on my desk. This one is from Elle's Studio - "Love You More!"<br />
<br />
That's it. I feel good about finishing projects. Now, I have to get to the office but I'll surely fit in some crafting time when my admin is done. Have a GREAT Wednesday and please come back to play.<br />

<br />
I've been really, really busy for the past month and couldn't share all the fun that I've been having but today I can share with you. My oldest friend's daughter, An-Louise got married over the weekend and I made her dress.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7tFHSDhkXIGnzOd9fmKba65wEQV3tYuadGw6itbcIuYpus6xG60mEw7D3qKEl34IdvUyBRGbJzv3ro3f4u8itoyem0sVw16-v8RJidfjgUYpfNgI3Bj7LAxxeDOYOqRQla7_0V5S0WFg/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7tFHSDhkXIGnzOd9fmKba65wEQV3tYuadGw6itbcIuYpus6xG60mEw7D3qKEl34IdvUyBRGbJzv3ro3f4u8itoyem0sVw16-v8RJidfjgUYpfNgI3Bj7LAxxeDOYOqRQla7_0V5S0WFg/s640/2.jpg" width="454" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Even though she could afford the best designer dress, she wanted me to make it as her mother and I have been BFF's since birth. YES, our parents lived on adjoining farms and our moms were pregnant together, we were born a few months apart, went to primary school, high school, university together and remained close to this day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Normally I don't do wedding dresses as the most wonderful girl turns into a monster when getting married but not An-Louise. She knew exactly what she wanted and I just had to do the sewing. I'll post some more pictures and a link when it's on the photographer's website.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is my "work in progress" pictures which will be going into my sewing journal. If you missed that one, check it out <a href="https://playasugo.blogspot.co.za/2015/02/sunday-summary-week-1-5.html">here.</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcKMFJHg_cMhEKHqFDpQJhjNPNleTuWlm5TAT-qLb1DRm8OWE0kCZzUR6Aj3jjqeP-qc6yQsQtoLKBxPborlx7f_jys3wDOZYiWhvnTpddUcm-grC3Tb5ZY_tpjaLZXv3-i0afMYGHOQA/s1600/IMG_6032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcKMFJHg_cMhEKHqFDpQJhjNPNleTuWlm5TAT-qLb1DRm8OWE0kCZzUR6Aj3jjqeP-qc6yQsQtoLKBxPborlx7f_jys3wDOZYiWhvnTpddUcm-grC3Tb5ZY_tpjaLZXv3-i0afMYGHOQA/s640/IMG_6032.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And I had some time left to do a "box" for my gift card:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7PUkYD4Q5HB8GoPonYvznA-SGcu6_9UwgIHeTmT0-Ee1kZDSlnfYrzzhz9SeOOZ1glB1g5mUEcvkVG0wuTm5gzaEUnxXj2hJzSeIUBG5G4n3amL6w0pWsXg0kBOphaP4JE6KKjkvKYrw/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7PUkYD4Q5HB8GoPonYvznA-SGcu6_9UwgIHeTmT0-Ee1kZDSlnfYrzzhz9SeOOZ1glB1g5mUEcvkVG0wuTm5gzaEUnxXj2hJzSeIUBG5G4n3amL6w0pWsXg0kBOphaP4JE6KKjkvKYrw/s320/1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The box and flower were done with my Silhouette and the birds are from a VERY old Doodlebug and Sizzix stamp and die cut set - called Mr & Mrs. It's my "go to" wedding gift / card / box embellishment set. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.scrapbook.com/products/source/SBC_sz-659096.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://www.scrapbook.com/products/source/SBC_sz-659096.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For these birds, I used some left-over paper from a multi-media project, stamped and diecut. DONE. I still have the wedding cake and bells left in my stash patiently awaiting my next wedding project. I also used the tag and "Mr & Mrs" inside the box tied around my gift card and the letter I wrote to the bride and groom. Everyone gives pots, pans, linen and money. SO, this time I gifted them with a card to buy ready meals when they come home from work and don't want to cook. It's much more important to have time with your loved one than slaving away in the kitchen. Especially if you are newly weds!! OK, that's just me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's it!! I can't wait to get my hand on the wedding pictures. I already kept a double page spread open in my Project Life album for them and the memorabilia is stashed in a 6x8 pocket. SO excited. I'll share once it's done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have a wonderful week and please check back as I've got lots more to share right here on Play as U GO.</div>

<br />
I hope you are having a wonderful week. EVERYWHERE on the interwebs I see SPRING but down under in Sunny SA we are having a very dry fall. No time to mope - our winters a mild and this year we wish and pray for lots of rain. Hope to get some soon as all the dams are VERY low and if we do not get rain soon, we will run out of water. No joke - NO WATER.<br />
<br />
Let me show you another page from my Travel Journal:<br />

The spread on the right is a digital Project Life page printed onto 4x4 photo paper. I think I did it while standing in the Post Office rows!!<br />

I totally love my new stamp set "rate it". <a href="https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/Studio-L2E-RATE-IT-Clear-Stamp-Set--SS1014L2E?currency=USD" target="_blank">It's from Studio L2E.</a> I've seen it on one of the SimonSaysStamp Challenges and just had to have it. Living down under we love to travel, camp, visit restaurants and hotels - OK, doesn't anyone??. After such a visit, I normally write down a few notes in my Travel Journal - price, quality, where, when, etc. With this stamp, it's just SO much fun. I punched out the stars for rating as well as the "i eat" stamped image. That one is from Evalicious. I just LOVE travel related things!!<br />
<br />
The car and caravan was done with my Silhouette, the man love woman stamp from Amy Tangerine and the tent from L2E "rate it" as well.<br />

GAAN.SIEN.DOEN = GO.SEE.DO in Afrikaans. I cut the words with my Silhouette and added it to a textured background. I own only 3 bottles of mist - yellow, brown and blue. I decided to use it and I love the aged feeling. The zigzags was done with some Guesso and a stencil. I did cover everything with a few layers of Podge as this little bay has still lots of places to travel to.<br />

The small words was printed on copy paper, cut apart and glued on with the Podge. I totally love the translucent feel. As my husband and I travel alone most of the time with both the boys having their own lives now, I decided to add a little "couple" diecut to make it more personal.<br />

I own a stash of these and after this project turned out so GREAT, I'll be giving each and every one an overall. Just wait and see!! Maybe I should invest in a few more colours of mist. Any ideas?? The 3 that I have are all from different manufacturers. Please let me know in the comments.<br />

Hi there Bloglanders<br />
<br />
I'm sorry I skipped a blogging month (or two) but I had a LOT of stuff to sort out. During the year I'll tell you all about it. It all started with my son's accident. Suddenly you know that life is short and you should cherish every second with your loved ones.<br />
<br />
I'm not a big "cardie". Mostly I'll use a tag, name and handmade embellishment to pretty up my pressies or envelopes. Here is one that I've done to embellish homemade rusks.<br />
<br />
<img height="433" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5hfmXeylob9i_W6Ta3TJl_byEEwmxvLvGLOpc6PMdMgJ4sPZW_O5xE21sn9_z8phquTY8MIO6n9IgKGZ5t_bmDGHU2T4cLG_pa6AogBa1P8sRmfI1hoKq-NdIa716ViUo-sx6HsgEcUg/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /><br />
<br />
For Valentine's Day, I decided to make some tags to decorate my goodies. They are generic and will do just as well for a baby, birthday and any special occasion.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/df/5a/a1/df5aa1f73dc7b6bcb4cb37d80bcd533b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/df/5a/a1/df5aa1f73dc7b6bcb4cb37d80bcd533b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As always, my tags are double which means that I have space for a personal message inside. Do you make them like them as well?? Easy peasy. Fold the paper in half and die cut the closed side inside the cutting edge of the die. I'll post a picture to my Instagram feed - if you don't understand, hop over to Instaland and see how.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And another pix:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFOfDL50AOvC0WfTrPju2MFMEaxBX1tR1TzI8Q4u9HYprcDHT_dqVN4cvR6-D7ctARsPBSQPLIxlkW2ETeOTLT3R1SbH6n5RSb1qazO0LgRxRL-NhvofTN5VhCvTwT1lJvQsuZxPh76rI/s1600/ae77a47420dc254f51fe54d6a2bd7a24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFOfDL50AOvC0WfTrPju2MFMEaxBX1tR1TzI8Q4u9HYprcDHT_dqVN4cvR6-D7ctARsPBSQPLIxlkW2ETeOTLT3R1SbH6n5RSb1qazO0LgRxRL-NhvofTN5VhCvTwT1lJvQsuZxPh76rI/s400/ae77a47420dc254f51fe54d6a2bd7a24.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I used a stamp to make the die cuts with my Silhouette. Scan, trace and lift, offset and cut. While at it, I altered my image to have a heart shaped balloon to replace the kite. I'll add a sentiment to suit the occasion once I use the tag. Just watch this space / my Instagram and all will be revealed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg30zX_wcZwaRhlYnG8KQ0ph-7Kq5-0EFpQj5fM-u0UnXk89wcSnjm1tIS0iJ7II83zPl_aitAiQ8mJW3XCE88wzt47901lw4iWB6OdMx4LoBJQw_2ziBGu_lfA1kOZkgKv61Qhl4h6r1E/s1600/3a586758c610170c738175434d19ee05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg30zX_wcZwaRhlYnG8KQ0ph-7Kq5-0EFpQj5fM-u0UnXk89wcSnjm1tIS0iJ7II83zPl_aitAiQ8mJW3XCE88wzt47901lw4iWB6OdMx4LoBJQw_2ziBGu_lfA1kOZkgKv61Qhl4h6r1E/s400/3a586758c610170c738175434d19ee05.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can't decide which one I love most!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'll be trying to make some tags for my stash at least once a month. For inspiration I'll look around Blogland to find a challenge that takes my fancy. This week I was inspired by <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-cute/" target="_blank">SimonSaysStamp's Wednesday Challenge</a> - CUTE. I've never before used this stamp and it has been in my stash forever but when I saw the challenge, I immediately went to get it out. Once again, all the other elements came from my stash.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is my January and February efforts all ready to be used:</div>

<br />
I had a wonderful weekend. One son left for Canada, I'm "babysitting" his cat and the other one is moving to a nearby town. Busy, busy, busy.<br />
<br />
And I've made sure that I have some crafting FUN as well. A cover for my journals!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggc5PKS4m8brlYwqggHCzXOHBb44tywEeiihdUjZAg_lv3R3SJB0dAkfmQxA0a_2p_vwCTRZuaX9DRgV5n2KIdYujsyQlmCAlX1TKFrWl8lxF77MCS2iuvVg4j_U_IrlPNZ-BkiQ2UoTg/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggc5PKS4m8brlYwqggHCzXOHBb44tywEeiihdUjZAg_lv3R3SJB0dAkfmQxA0a_2p_vwCTRZuaX9DRgV5n2KIdYujsyQlmCAlX1TKFrWl8lxF77MCS2iuvVg4j_U_IrlPNZ-BkiQ2UoTg/s640/1.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After seeing a video on YouTube, I decided to do my December Daily in a notebook format this year. BUT, I already have one in progress for my Thank-You-Journal on my desk. Getting a bit all over the show. So I decided to make a cover to keep everything together. I totally LOVE the Christmas Cat fabric!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wanna peek inside?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On the left is the back of my DD waiting to be decorated and on the right my nearly finished gratitude journal. If you missed out on all that fun, just scroll down to my previous post and read all about it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And last but by no way least I have a brand new one that will become my summer vacation notebook. Remember, down under it's SUMMER and HOT!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You will see all of them right here on Play as U GO again. Just keep checking back and all will be revealed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And a bit of detail:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiknsgWnWBQdqfU5ydXXDBJ_Nxw6H4Mi1ht4IwecxrYUrat5mPcB1JfhKkYZOZ6lq3nChdv35dKKvUBNBtx5pbLmoEU6hHFAf7yXA-a4Sr0FpmiL2EcxUqcUUEiobT2wktrKCfuKBJsuBo/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; display: inline !important; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiknsgWnWBQdqfU5ydXXDBJ_Nxw6H4Mi1ht4IwecxrYUrat5mPcB1JfhKkYZOZ6lq3nChdv35dKKvUBNBtx5pbLmoEU6hHFAf7yXA-a4Sr0FpmiL2EcxUqcUUEiobT2wktrKCfuKBJsuBo/s640/4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've added 2 colourful buttons to the front of my cover - my inspiration came from the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=7214" target="_blank">SimonSaysStamp Monday challenge - Trio-Tastic </a>and I even added 3 bookmarks. The trim and buttons all came from my sewing stash. Totally love seeing and using them all the time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wanna make one yourself?</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. To get the size, I stacked 3 journals and folded a piece of copy paper to fit over it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. I added about 1 inch to the length of the copy paper and my pattern is made.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Zig-zag some stiffing onto the back of iron-on-batting. I made it about half an inch smaller all around and even made a "spine" for my cover as it will become bulky when my journals fill up. For stiffing I've uses mosaic backing - I'm sure you will get something similar in your local fabric shop but this works very well and I use it in lots of sewing projects.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. Fabric for my front cover ironed onto the batting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5. Lining for my inside cover.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
6. Pockets for the front and back flaps. I can add 2 more journals here should I need to. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
7. Elastic to keep my journals from falling out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
8. To the front cover I've added the buttons and some more elastic to keep my journals from falling out and my memorabilia safe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
OK ...................................... I forgot to take a pic!! Just sandwich the front and backs together and pipe all around.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
DONE.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you want more detail ............................. leave me a comment below and I'll gladly answer / give more info.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I totally love it!! Think I'll do some more in different sizes and even a few for very, very special Christmas pressies.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<br />
I hope you are having a marvellous November!! Even though we don't do Thanksgiving down under in Sunny South Africa, I try to do a thank-you-journal every year. It's like my December Daily - a yearly routine. I just LOVE to look back at my stash of journals lined up on my shelve.<br />
<br />
Have a look at <a href="https://playasugo.blogspot.co.za/2012/12/dankie-2012-inside-info.html" target="_blank">this one</a>!!! It's still next to my craft desk and one of my all time FAVE mini books.<br />
<br />
Let me show you what I made this year:<br />

I'm using this handmade Travellers Notebook and <i>Collect pictures</i> to reflect at my blessings. We are SUPER busy during November at home and at work and I wanted to speed things up a bit. Let's peek inside:<br />

I decorated this page with Gesso, a stencil, die cuts and scraps of paper. I printed 4 <i>Collect </i>pictures on a 6x4 photo, cut them apart and DONE. My aim is to have at least 12 pictures and therefore pages in my journal. Throughout the years I have learned not to do a page a day as it's too overwhelming for me.<br />

Except for my pics - I stayed true to my myself in this project and I love how it turned out. I will probably add another picture or two to this post as I still have a few pages to fill up and I also want to add "November 2016 / just "2016" to the front or back covers.<br />
<br />
Now you have to excuse me - I'm off to prep my December Daily notebook!!<br />

PS. I'll be adding my notebooks to my Project Life album. I love them on a shelf but I also want to store everything in one place. Watch this space and I'll show you how.<br />

<br />
I'm BACK!!! Most probably I won't be blogging as often as I used to but I'll try to get at least one post up every week. It's not that I don't craft - NO!!! I do. I just got tired of taking pics, "talking" to you and not hearing anything back. It's sort of one dimensional!!<br />
<br />
I do plan to go towards videos but first I'll have to figure all that out. If any of you know of "how to" videos, PLEASE leave me links in the comments.<br />
<br />
Another thing - I'll be using real scraps in my future scrapping projects. No big deal if something from my stash slips in but I'll be focusing on what I've got - my punches, stamps, wrapping paper, brochures, printing and Silhouette. This all is because I want to have less worldly goodies around me.<br />
<br />
OK, let me show you what I've done last week:<br />
<br />
First up is my planner page:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ4TFBu22yvSC0Q0jZoAvH7oNvZAV14odSw1JUQaqxWYB82gjXU3olohBkFIDBKE1UM5ak7Sxseuk4fFmTQoYBwLWpBM4uKolg56u2CMr0DZLWNqEkGQoeN47llBRiPtdMhWt0L-kntGA/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="460" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ4TFBu22yvSC0Q0jZoAvH7oNvZAV14odSw1JUQaqxWYB82gjXU3olohBkFIDBKE1UM5ak7Sxseuk4fFmTQoYBwLWpBM4uKolg56u2CMr0DZLWNqEkGQoeN47llBRiPtdMhWt0L-kntGA/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
I just love this "quote". I got it on Pinterest and then found out that it was done by one of my FAVE's Amy Tangerine. (you can get the link from my Pinterest board <a href="https://za.pinterest.com/pin/10062799147312700/" target="_blank">here)</a> The whole page evolved around it. The stamped labels are from Kelly Purkey (another FAVE), the diecuts and washi from my stash. Underneath the quote is a bit of wrapping paper.<br />
<br />
As I love this planner page so much, I'm submitting it to the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-anything-goes-32/" target="_blank">SimonSaysStamp Wednesday challenge</a> - ANYTHING GOES. Hop over there to see what the rest of Blogland did.<br />

Since my son's accident I haven't had a lot of time to spend on my Project Life pages but I still want to capture what we did. So, I'm mostly using Collect cards to keep track. On the bottom right, I've used a picture of my Sweet peas as a filler card. I love pictures more than shop bought stuff so, if you have it, why not use it??<br />
<br />
I'm still using my 6x12 alum and on this picture I have 2 weeks side by side. Love all the pictures and the info. On the picture next to the Sweat peas I'm waiting on my son trying on shirts in Woolworth's. He still can't fasten the small buttons so I had to go with to do that for him. A year from now, he would be fully recovered but I'll still have this pic to remind me to be thankful that he survived the accident and has the opportunity to fully recover.<br />
<br />
Next up - some sewing:<br />
<br />
My mom died less than a year ago and while she was sick a carer looked after her. Mum made me promise to make something for Gerda's baby's christening. SO, "baby" Gerda got his little white christening suit.<br />

I made it from white, raw silk. The blue tartan bow is just to add some "boyishness" to the outfit. While at it I want to wish them well for the christening this coming weekend.<br />
<br />
Last but not lease, a 6x12 layout as well as a Project Life page. Both my boys are 28 years old. One of their classmates recently got married. Pieter was the bestman and Wernich the MC. It is very special as today it's 4 months since Wernich's accident. We never in our wildest dreams would have thought that he would be MC at a friend's wedding after spending a whole month in ICU. Here they are - both my boys:<br />

<br />
Today I'm sharing a Project Life page from my 2016 album. I love these smaller slots!! A 12x12 inch page used to intimidate me. With 6x4 and 3x4 slots, I just get going and the page develops from there.<br />

Everything is still about my son's rehab and as always, the cats are nearby to give moral support. Best part about smaller slots is that I can use all my scraps and leftover stash to decorate. The tiny black and white alphas were done in Silhouette studio. I'm totally addicted to them to add titles and sub titles.<br />
<br />
My second flavour of the month is chipboard and puffies. Especially the little frame in the top left slot makes the cat stand out in the picture. Here is a close-up:<br />

<br />
And I'm back!.......... Wernich spent a month in ICU, 2 weeks at a rehab facility and we are now looking after him at home. The last two months have been hectic - no time for anything but we are slowly getting back to normal. He has therapy sessions twice a day and will make a full recovery. It will take time - about 2 years but we are SO thankful that he is alive and recovering. I can tell you - to get the news that your son has been in an accident is every parent's worse nightmare come true. To spend 2 weeks at his bedside while he is in a coma and not knowing the extent of his brain injury, makes it even worse.<br />
<br />
I hope this never, ever happens to me again. For that matter not to anyone else as well!! Thanks for all your prayers. Our faith and prayers have been the only things that kept us going.<br />
<br />
Now you know.<br />
<br />
I kept my Project Life pages up to date throughout the first half of 2016 but "lost" out on the first 2 months of the last half. I didn't even want to look at the hospital photos but decided that it's important to remember what happened when. Fortunately I did take photos as we progressed and kept everything recorded on my Collect app. I decided to print directly from Collect, add a few 6x4 pictures, journaling and embellishments - that's it. Let's go!<br />

On the left I've used mostly Collect pictures and right next to it, I recorded my birthday party. It was the day before Wernich left the rehab facility and we asked to take him with us to a restaurant to celebrate. Don't worry, the wine was for me - now alcohol for a patient with a brain injury!!<br />
<br />
The first 6 months of 2016 I went for a "cleaner" look but I missed my own handwriting and funky embellishments. Also, working in weeks got the better of me. I'm much more of an "occasional" scrapper. SO, I'll just go with dates and occasions for the last part of 2016.<br />
<br />
As this whole experience was awful for all of us, I went for a very grey, black and white colour scheme with pops of blue, orange and green. I got these from my stash.<br />

<br />
I hope you have missed me!! I'm so sorry about that but on the 1st of July my son was in a serious car accident. We've been through 5 days in a coma, he is till on a ventilator but we are making progress!!<br />
<br />
All this has resulted that I rather spend my days at his bedside and not at my craft desk and therefor, I've temporarily stopped blogging.<br />
<br />
Right now, all he needs is medical care and prayers. If you are a believer like me, please pray for us.<br />
<br />
I'll be back with some updates and when things get back to normal, I'll be back to my craft table and blogging.<br />
<br />
Thanks for EVERYTHING. I miss you all.<br />

<br />
I hope you had a wonderful Father's Day. We had. Both the boys and our daughter-in-law came home for the weekend and we loved having them around.<br />
<br />
After everyone left and all the dishes were in the washer, I had some time to finish my second "Out of Africa" Travel Journal page.<br />

Once again I used the Africa stamp from Studio Calico, a collage picture and some bits and bobs from my stash. While at it, I made some more of my magic mini alphas which I do with my Silhouette. More about that later this week.<br />
<br />
As South Africa is SO far from everything, we do travel a lot. Not only locally but all over the world. I do have a "local" as well as an international bucket list. On my local one is to visit all Sunny South Africa's national parks and as my husband is a HUGE camper, my dreams may come true sooner than later. My travel journal keeps track of all that.<br />
<br />

We have a green caravan called MOTTY (short for MOTLAPPER - my son did not know the difference between a moth and a butterfly so he combined the words in Afrikaans and called the all Motlappers MOT = MOTH; SKOENLAPPER = BUTTERFLY) See, now you can speak Afrikaans as well!! Whenever I do a camping page in my Travel Journal or Project Life album, I add one of these diecuts. You will see lots of them on my projects.<br />

<br />
I got up very early this morning to get this post up as both my boys are coming home for Father's Day and I want to spend every available second with them. Of course I'll share some pic's after the weekend!!<br />
<br />
Today I brought a Travel Journal page to share:<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
A few weeks ago I joined Wynand on a business trip and we extended our stay to visit 2 of Sunny South Africa's National Parks - <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augrabies_Falls_National_Park" target="_blank">Augrabies Falls</a> and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kgalagadi_Transfrontier_Park" target="_blank">Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.</a> I showed you the mini book I made <a href="https://playasugo.blogspot.co.za/2016/06/monochrome-mini-magic.html">here.</a><br />
<br />
BUT, I also keep a travel journal that joins me on every trip I do. Do you know that Sunny South Africa has 22 National Parks? Wynand and I plan to visit them ALL. We only have 5 to go!! Want to read more about it? Just click <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_National_Parks" target="_blank">here.</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/13398943_1014227261991648_316135624_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTI3NDQ5MjY2MTU2MTU3ODEyNg%3D%3D.2.l" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/13398943_1014227261991648_316135624_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTI3NDQ5MjY2MTU2MTU3ODEyNg%3D%3D.2.l" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see - we saw LOTS of animals including 5 lions!! I had this stamp set from Studio Calico that I used on another page and as it was out, I stamped and coloured the 5 lions and the giraffe that we saw. A few pictures and bits and bobs from my stash and it was done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I still have to add my journaling. Normally I add the website, rate the experience, note the kilometres we drove and what it cost. When I have a bit of free time over the weekend, I'll add it. Also included in this stamp set is a map of Africa. I'm using this on another Travel Journal page which I will share next week. Just check back and all will be revealed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think my other "travel stamps" are from Ali Edwards and I just HAD to add the quote from Nelson Mandela (it's also part of the "Africa" stamp set) <span style="color: red;"><b>"it always seems impossible until it's done"</b></span>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I do a travel journal every year and this one is nearly full. We still have 2 more trips planned for later this year and of course, I expect the unexpected - hopefully my journal will be full this year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Someone asked me about the "mini alpha's" on my layouts and journals. I'll show you exactly how I do them in another post. As we don't get the nice goodies down under in Sunny SA, I improvise. I do them with my Silhouette but you can print them on an ordinary office / home printer and cut it out by hand as well. Check back and I'll show you how.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's it!! I'm off to get beds made, buy food and have an early morning cup of coffee on my "stoep". While you are here - hop over to the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-animal-magic/" target="_blank">SimonSaysStamp Wednesday Challenge of the week - ANIMAL MAGIC</a>. I bet nobody else saw 5 lions! (genuine ones out in the wild!!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for looking at my bloggie. Have a GREAT weekend!!</div>

<br />
Happy Sunday to you all!!<br />
<br />
Today I have a covered notebook to share:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2AGkcOSgKiopg5mKr4qNA3bsneDaYzb1xM3GTPC8w2-gE-m7JYy7qICZXYJJ5_b4mMzsqtQfZlqjHxEed1d0Dwj4GO2x_VvYYBfU1xkuLioAWxKcD96YHgIDAZWBsGACkRO0hiJ4-FhM/s1600/IMG_1676.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2AGkcOSgKiopg5mKr4qNA3bsneDaYzb1xM3GTPC8w2-gE-m7JYy7qICZXYJJ5_b4mMzsqtQfZlqjHxEed1d0Dwj4GO2x_VvYYBfU1xkuLioAWxKcD96YHgIDAZWBsGACkRO0hiJ4-FhM/s640/IMG_1676.JPG" width="512" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Even though it's winter down under in Sunny SA, I got so inspired with the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=5547">SimonSaysStamp Monday Challenge "Summer Garden"</a> that I just had to get into the vibe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You know me - LOTS of notebooks on my desk and in my pressie stash. It is SO easy just to add a funky pen / pencil and you have a beautiful, homemade present. No need for a lot of wrapping - just a glassine envelope and a bit of twine and you're ready to go - no use hiding all that beautiful stuff.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For this one I used butterfly wrapping paper to cover an ordinary notebook. Added a doily, some die cuts, stamping and scraps from my stash and it's ready to go. Even the title was die cut from glitter foam - nothing shop bought here!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And a bit closer:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvz1VXLQa_a7hf1K-AgSqhOgtcG5H4f9KHaTRN7aWTZ79Gjfz_-4KwXlpycSjVmug97Uo2sgd9fgIT9MUn2e7BfDhtEz9vCYfBpBoIx0GEqOWLBDaFv3jVHlRtgrWu12nfErKtL2tl0IA/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="460" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvz1VXLQa_a7hf1K-AgSqhOgtcG5H4f9KHaTRN7aWTZ79Gjfz_-4KwXlpycSjVmug97Uo2sgd9fgIT9MUn2e7BfDhtEz9vCYfBpBoIx0GEqOWLBDaFv3jVHlRtgrWu12nfErKtL2tl0IA/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I LOVE to "sign" and date all my projects, This one got it on the back:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5PTkfTjGaXzBo7og_CVV0rpRp44wrotqyOEZJuteZlc8e5NhkF1CtJRn8BUYQOHyasHZPJbxcFxOK_5mfSWqEA0Tg7HMai77MTjV77L4-QgDWj3Pv1yPAa2gvl6cySTnczoy6ibfJkeA/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="460" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5PTkfTjGaXzBo7og_CVV0rpRp44wrotqyOEZJuteZlc8e5NhkF1CtJRn8BUYQOHyasHZPJbxcFxOK_5mfSWqEA0Tg7HMai77MTjV77L4-QgDWj3Pv1yPAa2gvl6cySTnczoy6ibfJkeA/s640/2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And I'm already using my brand new Summer Garden Notebook!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ks-fbyHfwbomVPQD9fF3Zf-kdVJ3s_SH4rMG8PqJ1IafTCZ4jvtPJkLLCd36fZcgqz5VJtUZMwzRVUxoMNqH02MlTycD1RzKG90VBbrCSm5igPWPkjm4Q2pnmNzjkVfXUzyS45IG2OM/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="460" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ks-fbyHfwbomVPQD9fF3Zf-kdVJ3s_SH4rMG8PqJ1IafTCZ4jvtPJkLLCd36fZcgqz5VJtUZMwzRVUxoMNqH02MlTycD1RzKG90VBbrCSm5igPWPkjm4Q2pnmNzjkVfXUzyS45IG2OM/s640/4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With one roll of cheap wrapping paper I've covered numerous pressies, made this notebook, a planner page and a travel journal (it's coming in another post) and there's some more left. Here you can see a bit more of the beautiful print on the wrapping paper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNpwG74oH9va_bD6uh48ZyBnDCqyoOlGKNVkvJwUEQj6UbrckAQyn7PQ3xDUKMeFF6V9VvagWiiTiCxNIyuZNn3peQNu7JyQxiQogMW8tQpsF2Dau735c7QIyGxRxJW27Jejm7aq-Atss/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNpwG74oH9va_bD6uh48ZyBnDCqyoOlGKNVkvJwUEQj6UbrckAQyn7PQ3xDUKMeFF6V9VvagWiiTiCxNIyuZNn3peQNu7JyQxiQogMW8tQpsF2Dau735c7QIyGxRxJW27Jejm7aq-Atss/s640/3.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's really hard to get good scrapping supplies down under in Sunny SA. If I buy, I normally order online all the way from the USA. SimonSaysStamp is most definitely my FAVE shop and their shipping is the most affordable out there. Believe it or not but most shops don't even want to ship to South Africa!! Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I tend to spend my money on dies, stamps and ink as they are rather Light and therefor cheap to ship. Then I look around for cheaper paper and art options locally.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So far it's working very, very well for me. If you are short of cash or living down under somewhere - just follow my example and use stuff that's already out there and available. Most of the time it's free!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's it!! I hope you enjoyed my gift wrap Summer Garden Notebook as much as I have.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have a GREAT week and please check back. I'm working on my VERY FIRST video EVER. It still needs some tweaking but it will hopefully be up before the weekend. You don't want to miss out as I'll show the inside of this travel journal that I've featured in my previous post. Once again, all supplies from my scrap stash and the local office supply shop.</div>

<br />
OK, maybe you are counting differently but what's important is that we are nearing the middle of 2016. Time to get going and get things done.<br />
<br />
I just came back from a mini holiday / maxi weekend and decided to get my pictures and memorabilia into my Project Life album right away!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_jwf6vj1UODFGnNh6-wIaO1RzJPZi34V_FXlWEKmaFdojbAvUu3c0cLIUrEVqyloMPZtIIgkCkiKGpgKZHGIlKQgWikWOi7vbtDo_AupyjcCkU5glKuBJc8w2RzY1iWj18lnlAAxlut4/s1600/IMG_1390.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_jwf6vj1UODFGnNh6-wIaO1RzJPZi34V_FXlWEKmaFdojbAvUu3c0cLIUrEVqyloMPZtIIgkCkiKGpgKZHGIlKQgWikWOi7vbtDo_AupyjcCkU5glKuBJc8w2RzY1iWj18lnlAAxlut4/s640/IMG_1390.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Most of my pictures went into 6x12 Project Life pockets but I decided to put the journalling, more pictures and memorabilia into a mini book (well sort of) and add it to my album. Like I did <a href="https://playasugo.blogspot.co.za/2013/07/binding-brochures-into-travel-journal.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
I just cut an old school exercise book to 6x12 and sew it to a page protector.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK1FvLjxOqMI5grmnc-CfDDeAlrC9J0VlHmgCKiNZqLFKWYdMxRT06WwPpbPwBlbGwDa5NurF223J3ifZHkU7L7R2NmyA4-HBSPplG9u7QIECOVuDhSHpG00NXSIfIRYoJPNvC2MHD8W4/s1600/IMG_1386.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK1FvLjxOqMI5grmnc-CfDDeAlrC9J0VlHmgCKiNZqLFKWYdMxRT06WwPpbPwBlbGwDa5NurF223J3ifZHkU7L7R2NmyA4-HBSPplG9u7QIECOVuDhSHpG00NXSIfIRYoJPNvC2MHD8W4/s640/IMG_1386.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Everything except the page protector is from my scrap stash - I even recycled a printed paper bag from my previous birthday's pressie.<br />
<br />
Now just for a bit of decorating:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnbQ66z75iRWqWWZ8hqtqh65jRMbgSANMCyn9qHiU3NgDboirDgxMDKrSJc-26vMF7YNuX2T9bC5-dGKskboTfpKDQ53P_-0jDRRF47urSy-zPkOpQKPctrQUec0ZqvHrdn_Xy3aLGCXo/s1600/IMG_1391.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnbQ66z75iRWqWWZ8hqtqh65jRMbgSANMCyn9qHiU3NgDboirDgxMDKrSJc-26vMF7YNuX2T9bC5-dGKskboTfpKDQ53P_-0jDRRF47urSy-zPkOpQKPctrQUec0ZqvHrdn_Xy3aLGCXo/s640/IMG_1391.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I decided to go for a monochrome look inspired by the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=4800" target="_blank">SimonSaysStamp Monday Challenge.</a> Normally I'm not a natural kind of girl but because this was all about an outdoor, camping trip in the wild of Sunny SA, it worked perfectly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Did you spot more of my<a href="https://playasugo.blogspot.co.za/2016/04/secret-sewing.html" target="_blank"> "secret sewing"</a>?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And it's in my 6x12 Project Life album:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP9V050o6YhLoUX7IPFifJWhzSXdj0fJUyhJeLM4-gW4ijWraUOYbuwr602jBSAS2wPkC0V5khFi1BVj3evA9vTiXoVnOme9PlYkXP9R7YD4ETgfaeDtv8I5JVKx38MZvSLCg7mf5vyVk/s1600/IMG_1389.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP9V050o6YhLoUX7IPFifJWhzSXdj0fJUyhJeLM4-gW4ijWraUOYbuwr602jBSAS2wPkC0V5khFi1BVj3evA9vTiXoVnOme9PlYkXP9R7YD4ETgfaeDtv8I5JVKx38MZvSLCg7mf5vyVk/s640/IMG_1389.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope to have a video soon of all my holiday pictures. I'm sure you would love to page through it with me. In the mini book are loads of brochures, maps, notes and more pictures. The maps and brochures are BIG and folds out or fit into glassine pockets that I've added to the inside pages.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's it. Another project done and dusted!! Thanks for visiting my blog today and please come back to play. In the meantime, have FUN and craft on. I'll be back later this week to show my super sexy picnic basket. All handmade by ME and in a monochrome colour-scheme as well. Love it!!</div>

<br />
No, I'm not letting go of my little blog - I'm just officially letting you know that I LOVE to travel and plan to do so whenever the opportunity arises. For years my boys came first but now that they have lives of their own, I'm off to GO, SEE, DO.<br />
<br />
For the past week I joined Wynand on a business trip to Upington. We extended our stay to visit 2 of South Africa's national parks - <a href="https://www.sanparks.org/parks/augrabies/" target="_blank">The Augrabies Falls</a> and the <a href="https://www.sanparks.org/gallery/parks/kgalagadi/" target="_blank">Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park</a>. I'm on a quest to visit <a href="https://www.sanparks.org/parks/" target="_blank">ALL the South African National Parks</a> - have a look - we have a LOT!!<br />
<br />
Let me show you the Project Life pages I made while there.<br />

<br />
I only used my iPhone (Project Life LetterGlow and PhotoGrid Apps). What I love about this method of memory keeping is that it's simple, LOTS of pictures and my story is being told while I'm still there to enjoy the moment.<br />
<br />
When I have time, I'll still do layouts and "embellishment scrapping" but with my lifestyle getting busier and storage space less, I plan to keep doing a lot of digital memory keeping. I keep reminding myself that this is MY LIFE, MY STORY and I can tell it whatever way I choose.<br />
<br />
That being said, I'll be using above pictures in my Travel Journal as well but this one will get more handwritten detail. I'll also include tags in both above layouts to tell it all. While at the parks, I gathered some brochures and maps and this will probably go towards a "mini" book that will go into my PL album. Like the one I did <a href="http://playasugo.blogspot.co.za/2013/07/binding-brochures-into-travel-journal.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: orange;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="color: orange;"><b>And a peek for the lazy / busy ones:</b></span></div>

Sunny South Africa is heading towards winter which means that our light quality is less. My photo taking skills is totally zero and therefore, I wait untill the natural light is better to take pictures (on my phone, of course!!) First in line on my photo taking list is my totally awesome picnic basket. I can't wait to show you!! I couldn't find anything to fit my needs and decided to make my own. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
I'll be back to show what happens in my life and on my craft table. In the meantime, have FUN and remember to try something new - TODAY.</div>

<br />
I hope you will have a fabulous week!! Let's start with my weekend project. Cooking quince jelly. I used <a href="http://foodpreservation.about.com/od/Preserves/r/Quince-Jelly.htm?utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=shareurlbuttons_nip" target="_blank">this </a>recipe and the results are very good. No need for complicated stuff, just cook and bottle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/13129157_1055150597904872_205931254_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTI1MDgzMDc5MTU4Nzk0MzM1NQ%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/13129157_1055150597904872_205931254_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTI1MDgzMDc5MTU4Nzk0MzM1NQ%3D%3D.2" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As u use only a teeny bit at a time and I wanted to include my quince jelly in snack packs to give away, I decided to use little spice jars to bottle it. They are TINY and therefore I needed tiny labels.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Inspired by the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=4792" target="_blank">SimonSaysStamp Monday challenge</a> (EMBOSS IT), I decided to try my hand at heat embossing. I bought the stuff more than a year ago but have never used it. For a first attempt it turned out GREAT!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Can't think why I've never done it - OK, my mum was sick and I think all that messy powder just scared me. Now that the ice is broken, I will do some more heat embossing projects. Watch this space and all will be revealed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some watercolour and die cutting with my SimonSaysStamp stitched circles and my project was done.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Looking at my close-up pics - maybe I should have "boiled" my embossing powder a bit more BUT that's the thing, I love being IMPERFECT and I'm sure my friends and family would not even notice. Next time I'll experiment a bit more.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And here you can see how I'm using my mini quince jelly jars. Unfortunately this one was given away before the SimonSaysStamp embossing inspirations hit me!! My gift box with (mostly) homemade goodies looks "good enough to eat" and I would love to receive an edible gift like this!!</div>

<br />
Before we start on a new month, I want to show what I've been up to over the past few days. In South Africa we have a long weekend at the end of April - if you take a day or two off from work, it is more like a mini holiday!! Wynand and I decided to stay at home to get some home and office admin done and of course, I had a bit more time at my craft desk.<br />
<br />

I totally love making mini books packed with memorabilia and info about our trips and travels. More than that - I always collect souvenirs and add it to my book's binder rings or I keep them on our kitchen "key board". Let me first show you a close-up of the mini book binder ring.<br />

I added broken shells and a silver dolphin collected while on holiday as well as the "Lazy Days" trinket, a few pieces of ribbon from my stash and of course, a key chain with a picture of me. I love these acrylic key rings and use them all the time to label my craft projects or add a personal touch.<br />
<br />
Such a GREAT feeling when you use your scraps and scrapping tools on alternative projects. For the acrylic key ring I use a left-over picture, cardstock and letter stickers. All from my stash. Circle punch and it's done. If you don't have a circle punch, don't fear, they even come with a cutting template - scissors will do!!<br />
<br />
This week I'm submitting my project for the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=4787" target="_blank">SimonSaysStamp Monday challenge - "SHOW US YOUR METAL".</a><br />
<br />
Here is one where I've used metal (and another acrylic key ring) as part of my collection of European holiday souvenirs:<br />

Now, I'm off to get my hands on another crafting project. Monday is still a public holiday which means that I have lots of time to finish up some FUN things. I'll be back ............................................<br />

<br />
I hope you are having a wonderful day!! Today, I want to share my handmade Project Life Title card for week 16:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12912377_263760227297879_751208503_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIzMTAyOTg2MjkxMTIwMjE3Ng%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12912377_263760227297879_751208503_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIzMTAyOTg2MjkxMTIwMjE3Ng%3D%3D.2" width="400" /></a></div>
My inspiration came from the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=4783" target="_blank">SimonSaysStamp Monday Challenge</a> - "April Showers bring May flowers". Not so easy if you live down under in Sunny SA where we are heading for winter!! I decided to take my inspiration from a rainbow and use the rainbow colours. This is what I got from my scrap stash:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12383236_631894796965247_1334350166_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIzMDYyNTI1MDk1MzY3OTQ1Ng%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12383236_631894796965247_1334350166_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIzMDYyNTI1MDk1MzY3OTQ1Ng%3D%3D.2" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I just glued strips of paper from my scrap stash onto a 6x4 piece of cardstock - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. Then I toned it down with some white acrylic paint and distressed it a bit. Some stamping and embellishments from my stash and it's done!!<br />
<br />
Another week in my life captured!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12940267_568737719968227_1215864681_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIzMTAyODQ2NjI3NTA3OTAxNQ%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12940267_568737719968227_1215864681_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIzMTAyODQ2NjI3NTA3OTAxNQ%3D%3D.2" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
Just a sneak peek - over the weekend I made 2 Layouts. They fit onto 6x12 pages in my Project Life album. Love them. I'll be back to share some detailed info later this week.<br />

<br />
Happy Wednesday to all of you!! I think I'm having a mild depression .......................... yes,seriously! During 2015 SO many things happened that I went onto auto pilot and now it seems that I just can't snap out of it.<br />
<br />
I found that the only thing keeping me from staying in bed the whole day, is if I set myself a challenge and keep to it. It does make me feel better to see that I can still be creative. Yesterday, my challenge was from the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-happy-birthday-4/">SimonSaysStamp Wednesday Challenge Blog.</a><br />

I don't make a lot of cards but find that my whole family tends to give gift cards or money and for that we need pretty cards.What better way to use up scraps, be creative and make something?<br />
<br />
I used the <a href="https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/Simon-Says-Stamp-SINGLE-ROSES-Wafer-Die-SSSD111543-DieCember-SSSD111543?currency=USD" target="_blank">Single Roses die from SimonSaysSamp</a> and just piled up my die cuts onto a watercolour background. A bit of black stamping, a sentiment and it's DONE.<br />
<br />
Here you can see the dimension on my card.<br />

<br />
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I cooked, played and drank some good South African West Coast Sauvignon blanc. But that's not all - I had some extra time for crafting.<br />
<br />
I finished 2 Project Life Layouts, a 6x12 Layout and a double page spread in my Travel Notebook. Let's start with that:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdwv4SeZNsyLI93wtzg6-sSTBv_FOdiyE0jmbROAROXLXcjZBXuSOLKGzXRZ7XRQMi4gsWR3gGyVrnEGsaynqhXsVjuQNQTpKNvCU9G2M2lkPW3qc-vg9ETPGVaG-oWWkprjJ7_gNOBSw/s1600/IMG_0164.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdwv4SeZNsyLI93wtzg6-sSTBv_FOdiyE0jmbROAROXLXcjZBXuSOLKGzXRZ7XRQMi4gsWR3gGyVrnEGsaynqhXsVjuQNQTpKNvCU9G2M2lkPW3qc-vg9ETPGVaG-oWWkprjJ7_gNOBSw/s640/IMG_0164.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I used one 4x6 photo, edited it in Photogrid and added some titles and dates. Then into my book. I wanted to try out my new Kelly Purkey inks but totally lost the plot with the grey and had to do something to tone down my effort.<br />
<br />
I've had stencils and moulding paste in my stash for AGES but never tried my hand at it on one of my layouts. Out it came and this is what it looks like:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I totally love how it cleaned up the mess but still looks artsy and crafty. Done!!<br />
<br />
Now for the inside info. While I was deciding what to do, I saw this challenge on the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=4780">SimonSaysStamp Monday Challenge Blog</a>. Inspired, I went searching for my stencils and molding paste. And I did another project while everything was out - I'll be back tomorrow to show how I used it to decorate my Project Life cards.<br />
<br />
Remember to check back!! Here is a sneak peak - just for you!!<br />

<br />
<br />
And now for my post on SECRET SEWING.<br />
<br />
If you follow my <a href="http://www.intagme.com/tharohazel/1221218231062646946_1314608603/">Instagram feed</a>, you would have seen it by now but if you haven't, I'm here today to explain how to do it.<br />
<br />
I print all my comments on a 6x4 sheet. In "Word" adding a table and filling up the spaces with what I will need as well as some extras for future use. Now start stitching.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12940911_471144059745267_936322420_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxODEwMzg4MzY3MDc3MDUwNA%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12940911_471144059745267_936322420_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxODEwMzg4MzY3MDc3MDUwNA%3D%3D.2" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The GREAT thing about this is that even if you don't have a sewing machine, you can ask a friend to help you out or do a stack when visiting your mom or aunt who does have one stashed away somewhere.<br />
<br />
I use all my "scrap" thread for these. You will see that I've used orange on top and pink at the bottom and halfway through my project, I had to replace the bottom thread - now that one is yellow. I like the IMPERFECTNESS.<br />
<br />
I also like that the stitching doesn't go all through to the back page. No need to cover up unseemly threads.<br />
<br />
Now start cutting them apart.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12907255_1676330372618342_732950567_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxODEwMjg3ODczMjMwOTI5NQ%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12907255_1676330372618342_732950567_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxODEwMjg3ODczMjMwOTI5NQ%3D%3D.2" width="640" /></a></div>
All that's left is to glue your stitched titles onto your projects. Keep what's left in a mini storage bin - they will come in handy in future projects. I use them on my PL spreads, PL cards, mini books. layouts and in my planner.<br />
<br />
And ............ meet my SECRET SEWING mini book:<br />

<br />
Happy Friday to you all!! Wynand and I are on our way for a camping weekend. He's a VERY happy camper!!<br />
<br />
But, I'm not checking in to tell you about our trip - you can check my <a href="http://www.intagme.com/tharohazel/1218101309324415740_1314608603/">Instagram feed</a> to see what it looks like and I'll be sure to share some pictures next week. I do want to show my Project Life Travel mini book.<br />

I do love mini books but they tend to sit on my coffee table and I miss out on their picture in my Project Life spreads as I don't want to duplicate. SO, I came up with the idea to include mini books in my PL spreads. You can see more of them <a href="http://playasugo.blogspot.co.za/2013/11/project-life-mini-books.html">here.</a><br />

This one fits into a 3x4 PL page protector:<br />

One piece of rather sturdy cardstock of 3 x 4-and-a-bit (add a bit to the length of your card where you can sew on the pages) Cut a few pages - I did different lengths as I wanted the bottom ones to peek out. I used ordinary copy paper but you can do cardstock if you want to. Now fold the copy paper pages in half.<br />

A teeny, weeny holiday resort on the West Coast of Sunny South Africa called Strandfontein. (STRAND = beach; FONTEIN = fountain). I grew up round there and spend most of my vacations at Strandfontein having FUN, FUN, FUN. Now, being all grown-up, I still go there to enjoy the sunshine, tranquility and rest.<br />
<br />
But, let my show you what I did while being there, sitting in the sun and sipping ice cold West Coast Sauvignon Blanc - a planner page.<br />

Normally when we go away I don't take a lot of scrapping goodies with but I have this mini tin with basic supplies that always jumps on board. Maybe I should share my magic tin ........................... let's see how my office work evolves this week and maybe you're in for a magic tin treat .................. ?????<br />
<br />
So, I got SO excited when I was gifted a sticky note pad!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12501886_1224732580887775_952444248_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxNjAxMzA5MzY2NjU3NDYyNQ%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12501886_1224732580887775_952444248_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxNjAxMzA5MzY2NjU3NDYyNQ%3D%3D.2" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And a peek inside:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12519558_689517247817568_1304039701_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxNjQ0NTY2ODA0MjIzMjI3Ng%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12519558_689517247817568_1304039701_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxNjQ0NTY2ODA0MjIzMjI3Ng%3D%3D.2" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I couldn't help it - just had to give it a go and as my planner always travel with, I got planning / crafting.<br />
<br />
Here is what I did while at the beach house:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12599451_187698858287999_662038282_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxNjQ0NzU4MDI3NTc1NzU1NA%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/12599451_187698858287999_662038282_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxNjQ0NzU4MDI3NTc1NzU1NA%3D%3D.2" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And when I got home, I added a few bits and bobs from my scrap stash. I really wanted to add a bit of the lace that was tied around my sticky note pad but my sewing machine stays at home and therefore I had to sew that on afterwards. I love it then little bits of the past peeks out of my planner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/10354455_448348658687288_807053387_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxNjQ1MzQxNTc0MzgwNDAwMQ%3D%3D.2" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/s640x640/sh0.08/e35/10354455_448348658687288_807053387_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTIxNjQ1MzQxNTc0MzgwNDAwMQ%3D%3D.2" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
(You can see - the light in the pictures differ enormously - the difference between the sea and inland light intensity.)<br />
<br />
A close-up of my cherished lace:<br />

<br />
<br />
And for those of you who think I don't use the pages of my planner for planning .......................... I'll be showing a "before and after" of my next planner page in another post. I do my planning and only THEN do I finish my page with bits and bobs of embellishments. Normally I use sticky notes to double op my writing space as I have an A6 planner - fits into my handbag but writing space is not enough for me.<br />
<br />
