Good morning Bloglanders
I hope you are well!! Spring in sunny SA is awesome. I'm getting up earlier to have a walk around my neighborhood - don't want to miss out on all the beauty. So, before I go, my project for the day.
When I showed you the mini album made out of 1 piece of A4 paper I also included an idea to replicate them and make it into mini Birthday Books. (Click here if you missed out)
So, I got going. This time my book is A5. Yes, really, really small AND my Silhouette did the cutting for me! If you want the cutting template - just grab it here. I made it myself and all the folding lines are dotted and Silhouette will even cut the rest. For folding instructions, click here. If you use A4 paper - just duplicate and move / re size if you want a bigger book. (2 for the effort of 1)
I've added paper and embellishments done with my Silhouette as well as journaling. Then everything was copied - this will become my B-Day bash stash. Before I fold it, I'll do some stitching, add a bit of dimension with a pop-up sticker (ex Silhouette once again) and a personalized note to the back. I don't have "cookie cutter" friends! And this is what my copy looks like: (you can see that the stitching and dimensional stickers are still outstanding)
I did all this with my Silhouette as part of their birthday celebrations but my other posts showed how to do it "manually" - just as straightforward but HETTE does save a lot of time and I love making my own embellishments!
That's it. I'll including some "work in progress" pics at the bottom of my post later today if want to have a peek. (iPhone is still charging) Have a great day and thanks for visiting my blog today.

A4 Mini book ...................... let's call it part 2.
Good morning Bloglanders.
It's a public holiday and our proclaimed "Braai Day" so I'm putting my post up early because I want to join the boys and their girls for brunch / lunch and dinner outside.
Today I'm sharing a mini book for MY LIFE, MY WAY album. (Project Life) Here it is:
And there I was ............................ thinking that I was the brightest person in Blogland coming up with this. But as my friend Monika once said ................................ nothing's new. So I hopped over to Pinterest and what did I find?????
This one by Jessica Sprague using Basic Grey digital products:
Yes!!! the one I tried out for today's post! I just altered mine to be Afrikaans. Jessica has a free download. over at her blog. And there's more ........................ a video tutorial of how to make it and step by step pics of how to fold your book. She even mentioned that the idea came from a book called How to Make Books by Esther K. Smith. Here is the link to Jessica's post.
And I also found this one on Pinterest:
What I love about this one by the adventures of bluegirlxo is that she makes it out of paper, add all her embellishments and text and then have it copied onto A5. This results in a very small book and she sends them to all her friends. What a great idea to do - then you can just fill one out when someone has a birthday and you only have to make one version each year. This is going to be the way to go for me for 2014.
If you make it slightly smaller than 3x4 it fits perfectly in a Project Life page protector. If it's bigger, you can add it to a layout - great way to include 10 more pictures! I've printed mine on a slightly thicker copy paper and it is very sturdy - just think how great it would be as a photo card for a grandparent!
This is a rather long post but I thought as we are having a day off, I'll bring some extra eye candy. Thanks for looking at my blog. I'm off to sit outside and chat to the children, drink wine and enjoy a South African "braai". For the record ........................ Wynand is in Vietnam on business and is missing out on all the fun. I'll send some pics over to him so that he feels included. Have a great day and please come back to play.
