Project Life 2017 - Week 12

Good morning Bloglanders

I hope you are having a wonderful week!! Yesterday the 100 day Project started. OK, I didn't Google it, I didn't sign up for it but that's me. I live by my own rules. I decided that I would finish 1 thing every day for 100 days and I'm not aiming for perfection, everything above 50% will count as a success.

Currently, I'll be finishing PL pages - recent and even unfinished ones from past years. We will see .............

Yesterday, I finished half of Week 12. Actually, since I took this photo and filed the project away, I finished the second page as well. 2/100 for me! Let me show you my PL page:

My cats, daughter-in-law's birthday bash and what we did, saw and experienced. For the middle picture of my son's cat, I used a screenshot from Instagram. His account is private therefore I couldn't just copy but I still wanted to document what's happening in Wednesday's life. (Wednesday is their cat and my only "grandchild"). I LOVE having it as part of my spread.

Currently week 12's first half is next to a Art Journal page. It was not supposed to be like that as I like having the whole week in one view but it looked so good that I decided to keep it as is.

I'll tell you all about my art journaling in my next post. It's a hybrid between art journaling, faithbooking and a gratitude journal. Just check back and all will be revealed. (I've used the brush strokes to hide my personal journaling, Sorry!!)

The flair and label is from Kelly Purkey's shop and the paper from Studio Calico's Citrus Twist. It's my ALL time favorite paper pack.

I think Project Life is much easier if you stick to a recipe. I normally print my journaling (Word doc, office paper) but I do love to add handwritten notes here and there. I make my own tiny alphas in Silhouette as well as a week number. Normally I use a date label from one of Kelly Purkey's label stamps but if all else fails, I will use what I have on my desk. This one is from Elle's Studio - "Love You More!"

That's it. I feel good about finishing projects. Now, I have to get to the office but I'll surely fit in some crafting time when my admin is done. Have a GREAT Wednesday and please come back to play.

Out of Africa Travel Journal part 2

Happy Sunday everyone!!

I hope you had a wonderful Father's Day. We had. Both the boys and our daughter-in-law came home for the weekend and we loved having them around.

After everyone left and all the dishes were in the washer, I had some time to finish my second "Out of Africa" Travel Journal page.

Once again I used the Africa stamp from Studio Calico, a collage picture and some bits and bobs from my stash. While at it, I made some more of my magic mini alphas which I do with my Silhouette. More about that later this week.

As South Africa is SO far from everything, we do travel a lot. Not only locally but all over the world. I do have a "local" as well as an international bucket list. On my local one is to visit all Sunny South Africa's national parks and as my husband is a HUGE camper, my dreams may come true sooner than later. My travel journal keeps track of all that.

We have a green caravan called MOTTY (short for MOTLAPPER - my son did not know the difference between a moth and a butterfly so he combined the words in Afrikaans and called the all Motlappers MOT = MOTH; SKOENLAPPER = BUTTERFLY) See, now you can speak Afrikaans as well!! Whenever I do a camping page in my Travel Journal or Project Life album, I add one of these diecuts. You will see lots of them on my projects.

Out of Africa Travel Journal

Happy weekend Bloglanders

I got up very early this morning to get this post up as both my boys are coming home for Father's Day and I want to spend every available second with them. Of course I'll share some pic's after the weekend!!

Today I brought a Travel Journal page to share:

A few weeks ago I joined Wynand on a business trip and we extended our stay to visit 2 of Sunny South Africa's National Parks - Augrabies Falls and Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. I showed you the mini book I made here.

BUT, I also keep a travel journal that joins me on every trip I do. Do you know that Sunny South Africa has 22 National Parks? Wynand and I plan to visit them ALL.  We only have 5 to go!! Want to read more about it? Just click here.

As you can see - we saw LOTS of animals including 5 lions!!  I had this stamp set from Studio Calico that I used on another page and as it was out, I stamped and coloured the 5 lions and the giraffe that we saw. A few pictures and bits and bobs from my stash and it was done.

I still have to add my journaling. Normally I add the website, rate the experience, note the kilometres we drove and what it cost. When I have a bit of free time over the weekend, I'll add it. Also included in this stamp set is a map of Africa. I'm using this on another Travel Journal page which I will share next week. Just check back and all will be revealed.

I think my other "travel stamps" are from Ali Edwards and I just HAD to add the quote from Nelson Mandela (it's also part of the "Africa" stamp set) "it always seems impossible until it's done". 

I do a travel journal every year and this one is nearly full. We still have 2 more trips planned for later this year and of course, I expect the unexpected - hopefully my journal will be full this year.

Someone asked me about the "mini alpha's" on my layouts and journals. I'll show you exactly how I do them in another post.  As we don't get the nice goodies down under in Sunny SA, I improvise. I do them with my Silhouette but you can print them on an ordinary office / home printer and cut it out by hand as well. Check back and I'll show you how.

Planner Page February 2016

Happy Monday Bloglanders

I hope you are having a BLAST!! It's very hot down under in Sunny SA and we spend most of our time at the pool, having a "braai" or camping. SO, my Traveller's Notebook is filling up FAST. I'm also planning day (and night) in order to have as much free time as possible.

Let's look at another page from my Planner.

I've used paper pieces which I received as a freebie with a scrapbook order. This is what I got:

I'll be trying to use it to do a Planner page, a Traveller's Journal page, a page for my Notebook and a Project Life spread. Think I will manage??? Let's give it a go.

I LOVE the stamps that I've used!  If you want to know where I got them, I'll look it up but I'm totally too lazy to do it today!! On the left it looks like this:

Washi from my stash, the heart stamp is from Gorjuss and part of a set that I've never used - more suitable for cards and as you know - no elaborate cards for me. I'm glad that at least some part of the set fits in with my scrapping style.

Sunday Summary Week 27

Good morning Bloglanders

Do you ever get the feeling that nothing gets done??  For the past few months I've been feeling like that. I've been blogging less because I felt that I didn't get enough done and because I didn't blog, less did get done. So, last night I decided to make a list of the smaller things that I've done during the week ............................ and then I decided to do a summary of the week's smaller, less "bloggable" projects each Sunday.

I did a LOT of rusks. To fill our tins as well as for a 50th wedding anniversary pressie - I needed a "consumable" present. When you are 75+ you don't need more "stuff".

I did the "50ste" with my Silhouette, added a stamped card and a voucher - made from scrap paper in beautiful "citrussy" colours.  Wynand and I plan to treat the happy couple to breakfast at a nearby wine farm when we have better weather. (and once THE wedding is over)

Next up I got all my favourite stamps and dies out and recycled some scraps into usable PL embellishments:

In my quest for "waste not, want not" - I've decided to make my own die cut animals.  For months I've been trying to get hold of the Studio Calico wood veneers but if they have stock, I don't have an order and vice versa. Unfortunately, (or maybe it's a blessing in disguise) it's too expensive to order only one item to be shipped to Sunny SA. SO, out came my Papertreyink "on the farm" dies.

I've done these in cork and wood veneer (ex Simon Says Stamp)- once again I added adhesive backing from Sizzix before die cutting - now it's self adhesive!! Love them!!

And on the sewing table:

100 Napkins to be hemmed and personalized with heat transfer. Watch this space and you will meet again. On the right is a pattern I bought -  I'm making it in purple.

It's very, very cold in Sunny SA and Wynand and I go for a walk around our neighborhood every day and this was the view from my porch when we came back on Friday evening:

Doesn't seem like a lot when you don't count but now that it's been recorded, it looks like I've been busy. Makes me feel much more optimistic and energetic.
