Making cards all day long

A few days ago I spent a whole day making cards.  It is not as if I'm a good cardmaker - my stamping is awful and I suck at coloring in BUT if I want to de-stress - I make cards.  Actually I made two whole ranges that will be given away as sets. First one is the family of my MME project which I shared earlier this week.  If you missed it, scroll down or have a look at the archives.

For this one I used a sentiment from MME.  The background was embossed with my good old Cuttlebug.

This one is 3x4 and I used a Polaroid frame done with a Spellbinders die. (Snapshot range) This little card will be my entry for The Old Bach Porch card pick-up week 40.  Hop over and see the rest of the participants. Just click here.

And some more hand sewing.  Once again I did the holes with my sewing machine (take the thread out!) and hand stitched in the holes with some top stitching thread.

And the one I did for the MME challenge:

It is much more interesting if I do them in different shapes and sizes and I love the look when they are stacked and packed.



I'll just put them into a glassine bag and wrap some twine around, add a sentiment and I have a great pressie for someone special - ready to go.

Cards, cards and more cards

Do you remember the card that Alexandra chose for the Scrap RDV fave's in July?  It looked like this:

And if you missed it, just click here.  I had some open space when I printed the cover for my "words i live by" mini book and decided to fill it up with little pictures.  I made this card for the CPS Card Sketches of the week:

And I did another card with the thumbnail pictures:

Basically I doodled around my pictures by hand, glued punched out frames (from scraps) over the pictures, added a few bits and bobs, a sentiment and my card was done. The last one will go to the 52 card pick-up of The Old Back Porch.  I think it's a great idea to make a card every week and as a result you will have all the stock you need for 2013.  The early bird catches the worm (or rather the card).

I have wrapped the whole "card family" in a glassine envelope - ready to be given away! I actually love the different sized - it gives dimension to the pressie.

I have made a carry-along barn for a little boy and tomorrow I'll share with you how I did it.  Want to peek?

I'm sure you still remember the card I made for the CPS challenge (bottom left) and if you read my blog regularly, you will know how I hate cards without family.  So without further ado - the rest of the siblings:

I only used offcuts of paper and what was left of a sticker sheet used in another project.  The one I'm submitting for The Old Back Porch card pickup week 34 is this one:

The Play Date Cafe card

And you know how I feel about cards without family.  So I made one for The Old Black Porch out of what was left on my craft desk:

And the small piece that was left went into my year in review file as a reminder of a coffee date with a friend:

And it all started out with this card:

Now I have another set to add to my Xmas pressie stash and I only used one sheet of paper!

Good morning Bloglanders

It's Monday and a brand new week!  Over the weekend I read "Signature styles" by Jenny Doh and what an inspiring book!  It made me think.  I'm actually a hybrid crafter but since I started this blog I moved to doing a lot of cards as they are such quick projects to try out techniques or practise with new tools.  BUT, this is not all there is to me!  So, I've decided to get a weekly theme that inspires me and try out more hybrid projects to match. 

Nothing like the present. Here is my first hybrid on my handmade flower theme that I chose last week for the CPS card:

I made these little felt roses and attached them to a hair clip.  I used The Play Date Cafe color scheme.


I'm sure everyone in Stellenbosch will notice my hair clip today - very, very bright and funky for this cold, winters day.  I love it!

I did another card as well.  Normally I try to make at least 3 cards with the same theme as I love giving sets away as pressies.  One normally looks too sad and lonely to me.  Another of my hang ups - even cards have souls when I make / give them. 

This one is going to The Old Back Porch for Week 32 of the 52 Card Pick-up. Even though I'll be doing more hybrid projects I'll keep up my card making as this is great fun.
