Bracelet Revamp

Today I'm here to share my bracelet revamp.  Wynand and I went camping over the weekend ...............

Totally awesome!! Lots of time to read, sleep, eat, hike and think creative thoughts.  As as always, I packed something to do. This time I took a cheap bracelet and decided to give it a new lease on life. Here is my "before" pic:

Now - I'm NOT a "beader" but I went through my sewing stash and got a whole lot of usable left-overs. Also, the tools are the standard ones that I keep to bend and cut whenever needed. Everything went into an VERY old Tupperware holder. Yes, my son actually used this in pre-school and he's 28 years old!! I just gave it a good wash in my dishwasher and it looks brand, spanking new.

The strawberries and Pomegranate mocktail is just part of my summer repertoire - you will meet them again in my pictures.

Back to my bracelet. I just cut the elastic on the original bracelet and threaded everything I wanted into a new one. Done!!

Now my bracelet is much bulkier and I love the silver with pops of pinkish red beads. Much more my style! Best part is that it didn't cost me anything.

Well, I'm  off to do some much needed sewing. As you can see from my pictures, it's spring down under in Sunny SA and I need some spring / summer clothes. I went through my Pinterest pins (under Prinses and Clothes)  and made a moodboard of what I think would fit / look good on me. Want a peek?

I'm starting off with the top left one. There is still black fabric in my stash from the 8 x bridesmaid dresses I made for my son's wedding - will be perfect!! Remember the wedding????

As free as a Butterfly

Happy day to you all!!  First up: My submission for the MME challenge "Let Freedom Ring". Well, down under in Sunny SA we don't do independence day, I couldn't find any suitable paper in my MME stash so off I went to Pinterest. And this is what I did:

As my home language is Afrikaans, I translated my quote from this (ex Pinterest):

Every month I try to focus on something and this is for July 2014. The best things in life aren't things and best of all - most of them are free for all. Thinking like that makes me feel free from worldly goods and  enjoy the preciousness of health, the love of my family and living life to its fullest.

For my project, I used a die cut from the Silhouette store for my frame and did the letters in vinyl except for the "DINGE" - I cut them out of glitter foam. The red flourish came from glitter foam as well and the flowers are offcuts from Silhouette printable canvas.  I added a bit of ink to the edges and a sparkly brad from the MME's "Lost and Found 3"  range.

My papers are rather old. I bought them from a close down sale at an online shop. The red check comes from the "Miss Caroline" range and the black and cream flowers from "Lush".

As promised yesterday, my Beady Butterflies:

This is an OLD project. Yes, ex 2005 when my boy's class  had to host the metric farewell. The theme was woody wonderland and our butterflies went on the menu's.  They were printed on green vellum, rolled around a glass vase and inside was an tea light. We glued the butterflies on randomly.  It looked magical!!!

How did we do it?? We used transparency to cut butterfly shapes, glass liner and paint to decorate and once again - beads for the bodies.   Every day after school about 10 boys used to sit around our dining room table making butterflies. They made 500!!! You see ........................ the memory is priceless and doesn't cost a thing.

These three little beauties in my photo are on my craft room window but you can also glue them back to back onto fishing line. It makes a GREAT mobile. And apparently the liner and paint never dries as mine (ex 2005) is still usable.

New Year's Resolutions Jar

Hallo Bloglanders

I hope you are having a Thunderous Thursday.  It's very, very busy down here in Sunny SA. Schools and universities are starting and the to-do-lists just never stop!!  Besides all this, I'm still trying to stick to my new year's resolutions and this is what I made to help:

I never put something like "lose weight" or "exercise more" on my list but as my son is getting married in August I decided to break that rule. I didn't specify what I wanted to do but added "spend time and effort on yourself" to my list. I urgently need to alter my lifestyle to be healthier and more active so I joined Weight Watchers and now I'm counting points.  You thought the beads are my points?????? If so, the left one would be the points used and the right one for those up for grabs but NO!!! You are wrong - I have added one bead to the jar for every kilo I need to lose and as you can see on the right, I've already lost 4!! Let's not dwell on those still in the 2GO jar.

Once again I've used my solar jars as they were already out and in use. I used my Silhouette to cut the  "2GO" and "done", added a ribbon and some twine and the project was done. Here is a close-up:

FYI: I never start a project on a Monday or on the 1st of January - too much pressure for IMPERFECT ME. I'm motivated by colour and textures and therefore I think this Resolutions Jar will just be the thing to get me to my goal.
