Hearty Solar Jar

Happy Thursday Bloglanders

Today I'm sharing my "Hearty Solar Jar":

I've decided to join  this fun challenge:

This week we are focusing on family and friends. I bought a solar jar as a gift and filled it with 50 acrylic hearts to celebrate my best friend's 50th birthday. From now on, every year, I'll add another heart to the collection. To zuss up the gift I added a bow,  tag and die cut. As for my friend, every time she uses the Solar Jar, she will be reminded of how much I love her.

The idea behind my gift is that I've known my friend for 50 years. YES, we were born 4 months apart on adjacent farms in a rural area of Sunny SA.  We grew up playing together 24/7. My sister is 10 years younger than I am and I always joke that I've known Anel for longer than my sibling and therefor we are MUCH closer. Wanna see what we looked like many, many moons ago?

Sorry about the quality of the picture but the photo is 49 years old and stored under not-so-good conditions. I'm the one standing and she is sitting in front. It was taken December 1965.

And another pic:

About 7 years old and this time I'm sitting. Just look at my floral skirt!!! My mum used to make all my clothes. (hers did as well) I would love to know what I did with that skirt on a farm!!!

Let's get back to my Hearty Jar. Here you can get a better idea of the acrylic hearts and the solar jar:

Remember my previous solar jar posts? Hop over and visit them!!

And a close-up of the tag:

I'll be seeing my oldest friend over the weekend. My Hearty Solar Jar is packed and ready to be delivered. Thanks for looking at my blog. Have a GREAT day and please check back as I'll be sharing the mini book I made for her as well. Of course I made one for myself but that's a story for another day.

Pre Valentine Project Life

Good morning Bloglanders

I'm trying to give my home a much needed facelift but the more I do, the more I have to do so I sent my sewing machine for a service and decided that I need a break to do some sorting first. But boy, do I miss that sewing machine!!

So, yesterday I decided to do some sewing by hand and while at it, I did some Project Life cards for Valentine's day:

I actually pre cut the holes for the sewing of  the hearts with my Silhouette.  Easy. I just changed the print line from continuous to dotted and ended up with perfectly spaced stitch lengths. I have tried to get my hands on the Designer Edition of the Silhouette software but because I live down under, the Silhouette store does not want to ship to me. (and I thought it's a digital product!!)  I really hate this because I'm always so loyal to my Silhouette but not getting goods are SO frustrating!!

Apparently the Designer edition has much more functions and line options but as I said .......................... nothing I can do about living down under in Sunny SA.

This is making me depressed so without further ado ..................................... some more cards:

and a close-up of the stitching:
That's it!! I'm off to try my hand at doing some speech bubbles.  Thanks for looking at my blog and please come back to play.

Bye
Hazel

Mini Heart Love Letters

Hi Bloglanders.

Once again - a beautiful day in Sunny SA!!  For my fellow South African Bloglanders - I hope you had a wonderful "braai day". Today I just want to be outside so I've got a quickie to share:
Sometimes when you see something in Blogland and you just can't help yourself. You have to try it.  And this was it. I saw it on the Silhouette blog and couldn't wait. It was actually their freebie so I didn't even have to spend a dime for the fun. Just click here to see for yourself.

I had to copy and paste it for you - I know that a lot of my Bloglanders hates the links.  I'm not sure if I'm allowed to reblog something like this but I couldn't find copyright procedures so I took the chance. If anyone has a problem, email me and I'll remove the image.

And for the non electronic Bloglanders, I also found instructions for the envelope on Pinterest:
Here is the link to the post that shows you how. The original post is from Forty Weeks. You can make the same one by hand but oh boy .............................. my Silhouette is worth every penny I spent on her!

That's it. Sometimes you just have to try it!! Go ahead and tell someone you love him / her right now. Thanks for looking at my blog today, I'm off to work in my garden and will be back tomorrow with some more crafting fun. Have a great day!
