Make a List

Good morning Bloglanders

I hope you are having a Wonderful Wednesday!!  Every year during September the whole Blogland goes into "list mode".  What a GREAT idea to say something in a quick and easy way! BUT, it's totally too boring for me to commit to keep up for a whole month - IMPERFECT ME.

I've done "Learn Something New Every Day" a few years before and it just didn't work for me.  However, I did finish the project and have a mini book to show:

Now you probably think I don't do lists - SO WRONG!!! I choose my own topics and do them whenever I want to. And my inspiration?? Pinterest, reading lists from other Bloglanders ...................... there's list everywhere.  And this is what my list book looks like:

I bought it from Monika's Etsy shop back in 2012 and since then I've been adding lists to it.  Here you can see a 2014 list next to a 2012 one:

And another golden oldie - "words I live by". You can see that I'm still adding to this list  as I go:

If you want to see more of my lists, just click here and here. I can't seem to find my "Learn Something New Every Day" mini book on my blog - I'll cover that in a later post because it's a true labor of love and a total once off.

Of course I've customized my book.  The front and back covers were blank when I bought it but in a jiffy I converted it to my own personality and style.

Everything that I've used, came from my "goodie box".  I keep all the freebies that I receive, bits and bobs left over from other projects and embellishments gathered in my non-crafty life here.

I'll be adding some journaling to my cover pages soon - we will revisit the List mini book then. Keep checking back and all will be revealed. In the meantime: I love these list ideas, my friend Monika has a whole list board on Pinterest and then there is kiki K.

See, no commitment needed.  I'll be back with some more crafting fun from the Play as U Go playroom. Thanks for joining me today in my quest for easy list making.

Have fun and remember to try something new - TODAY!!

Mini lists

Hallo Bloglanders

Just a quickie before the weekend takes off.  We are having wonderful weather here in sunny SA and hubby and me will have a walk in the park and afterwards a braai in our garden.  This weather smells like vacation this time of year.

I want to show you two pages I did for my mini list book.  I think about something I want to do a list about and just do it.  Eg. fave flowers, songs that remind me of something, fave colors, things I've never done, etc. When I start my "My life, My way project" I'll surely include a list every month.  Now here are the lists:

First up: what does "happy ever after" look like? Come on - think and write down your own answer. If you don't  have a mini book either make one / get one or write it in your diary.

And the second one:

This page was done after a prompt from Ali Edwards for the Big Picture, Big Idea festival. It is my list of important stuff that makes me live not only the length of my life but the full width as well.

There you have it!  Over the weekend I'll write a post to explain how I'll be doing "My life, My way".  Please check back to see.  I'm starting on 1 November 2012!  That's me - when I decide something, I start right away.

Enjoy your wonderful weekend!

My Dreams

Good morning Bloglanders

It's Monday in Sunny SA and I have a hectic week ahead.  Next weekend we have a public holiday and  my hubby has organized a camping trip - lots of fun, laughter, good friends and wonderful memories! Let's get started as I have to share my crafting fun with you before the albums get filed away.

Once again I joined Big Picture classes.  This year it was 14 days of Big Ideas brought to us by the very best .  I don't think I have learned anything new about myself (still hate ironing, doing dishes, etc.) BUT I made time to think about it and documented my feelings. At least I'll be able to monitor my progress or the lack of it!

On day 3 Courtney Welsh had the Big Idea to document your dreams. I didn't want to do a layout about it and decided to include it in my book of lists (ex Monika Wright's iloveitall on Etsy).  This is what it looks like:

I used a page with an envelope as I wanted to "hide" my journaling.  Get the idea?

I blurred out some of the journaling if you're thinking that my photo taking skills has once again let me down. Also, I covered the journaling with a transparency.  It's from BoBunny and I just love the "old school" feel.

I just love my book and even though I didn't join the "30 days of lists course" my book is filled to the brim with dreams, goals, things that I love / hate / make me smile / make me cry. I even listed what my life was like 30, 20, 10 years ago and what it is right now. Get yourself a journal and start listing!

I'll be back to share another of my projects right here on Play as U Go. Please come back to play. Have a great day.

Most important List

Good morning Bloglanders

I'm back with my lists.  Today I want to share my Gratitude list. I'm trying to get into the habit of seeing something good in everyone / every day and everything. Not always an easy task but by writing something down every day does show the progress I've made.  For 2012 I ordered one of Monika's gratitude multi media books but it didn't arrive in time.  Plan B was an unused school diary (we get them for free with magazines).

At the end of the month, I just tear the pages out and put them in my gratitude file. You know me and my files!

Inside I have used shop bought dividers for every month and once again some of my left over craft items to decorate the pages.

I'm making some of these for Christmas presents - the one in my picture is one of those as mine already looks like a smash book. For the pressies I've used school homework books as well but they don't have dates which means that I can put a stash in the file and the recipient can insert them wherever she wants to.

OH!!!! I nearly forgot to tell you that the files that I use are old office files (you know how they bend after years of use?).  I just cut them down with my craft knife and make a pretty fabric cover! Recycling at its best.

I hope you've enjoyed this week with me and my lists. Have a great weekend!

Some more lists

Hi there Bloglanders

I'm still on yesterday's topic - lists.  I love to write down things that I think about.  On my desk I have a notebook in which I used to write a note about something every day until I came upon this. Now I just take their promt, translate it and write it in my book. I do learn a lot about myself this way!

Here is a picture of my book:

It is an A5 fabric covered spiral book and as I made some for my etsy shop, I decided that "charity begins at home" and got one for myself.  The cover can be taken off which means that I only have to buy a new notebook every year.

And this is what it looks inside:

I don't put any pressure on myself to write every day but I just love it when I can look back over a year and revisit my thoughts and ideas. This is what life is about for me - making memories and REMEMBERING them. That's why I scrapbook and journal.

Enjoy your day and please come back to play.
