Have a Heart

I hope you are having a wonderful, sunny and loved Sunday! At Hamman HQ we are spending some time outside on our stoep, having a barbecue and a swim. It's HOT down under in Sunny SA.

Speaking of hot - the SimonSaysStamp challenge of the week is "Have a Heart". What more do you need to heat things up on your craft table?? Last year I made a kit of different heart themed things to keep on hand to pretty up my occasion and this year I decided to re-use my items and to duplicate the kit and gift a friend with one. The idea is to spread the love, isn't it?

And here is my "Have a Heart" kit:

"Have a Heart Kit": Ribbon, Washi, a handmade heart bunting, red vinyl die cuts, heart confetti, picnic cutlery sets, drawstring bags, straws and note cards.

I really did use what I had on hand. The confetti, heart bunting, straw toppers and paper spools for the ribbon, twine and washi are made from recycled scraps, the drawstring bags from offcuts of fabric and the rest came from my craft and kitchen stash. 

And here are what I made with the same kit last year:

6 Weeks to Wed

6 Weeks until my son gets married!!! SO much still to do.  I finished another thing on my "to-do-list" - the confetti.  I blogged about my friend Marelize and her DD's making it out of old book pages here.

And another WIP pic:

I used small Glassine bags from my friend Monika's ILoveItAll Etsy shop, filled it with the book page confetti, added a cardstock heart and stitched it shut.

And I kept one for myself and added it to my PL page about the wedding activities.

The title of my page is TROUkoors = wedding fever and it's a die cut in flocked heat transfer that I did for the napkins. The princess didn't like it so I used it in my layout. Not perfect to use heat transfer on paper but I like it anyway and it's in keeping with my 2014 philosophy - "waste not, want not".  I love the texture of the flocked heat transfer - looks like black velvet.

Back to my "shaker style" confetti. I'm adding it to the SimonSaysStamp Challenge - "SHAKE IT". Hop over there and join in the fun!

That's it. Just goes to show that you don't have to use inspiration only for scrapbook pages - it works very well on DIY projects as well. I'm off to give the 100 napkins a go ....................................

Confetti Mixed Media Art Journaling

Thanks for hopping by my blog today!  I made a mixed media layout for you to see:

You know how I love to reuse, re purpose and recycle.  So, I made these using the negatives from the princess confetti. Remember??? If you missed that one, just click here. And this is where it all started:

I used the heart negatives, glued it onto black cardstock and covered everything with more Modge Podge. A few pictures, some die cuts from my stash, a heart paperclip and two rows of stitching around the edge. I'm going to ask the Princess to do some journaling in the speech bubbles but until I see her ...................... it is filed away in my 2013 Project Life album.

And the story behind the pics? As Pieter and his Princess are getting married this year, so does most of their friends and that's what's it's all about.

I'm off for business in Upington.  My fellow South Africans will have sympathy with me - yesterday it was 50 degrees Celsius out there!! For those of you having winter, I would love to swop!

Princess Confetti

Hallo Bloglanders

And here we are!! A brand new year.  I wish for you all the best but above that to have FUN .............. may 2014 be your best year EVER.

It's going to be hectic for me - especially August. I'm having a big birthday and less than a week later Pieter and the Princess are getting married.  For the first time in my life, I'm planning a birthday party and everything for the wedding is en route.  This brings me to today's post. The confetti for the wedding is going to be little hearts and crowns (for our very own Princess of Hearts) and I've started on the stash. Want an exclusive peek?

I couldn't decide if the heart should go on the back or the front of the twine. Maybe you can help by leaving me a comment ???????.

This is SO me - I have 7 bridesmaid's dresses and a wedding dress to make so I thought I'd do the confetti by punching out half a cut of shapes every day. At least that would get one of my "to do's" done by the end of February.

I'm using twine from The Twinery, the punches are from EK Success and the little glassine envelopes come from Monika's "I love it all" Etsy shop.

Lucky me have a friend with 3 crafty kids and they were all  issued with punches and old books to help. I call my friend Marelize the head of the confetti team - if you want to get something done, ask her and boy, can she mobilize those girls!!!

There you have it - "Princess  confetti" under-way!
